MVRO’s mission and philosophy

Retailing is a professional, high level skill. MVRO is a firm of retail building consultants that operates both nationally and internationally, helping retailers to make quick, professional progress.

Our firm focuses on long-term, intensive partnerships with both internal and external business relations. MVRO always acts and thinks one step ahead of its clients’ initial expectations. That is also the company’s most important core value.

Learning organisation
This makes MVRO a learning organisation. We have now expanded to become source of knowledge when it comes to building consultancy work for store brands. This covers knowledge of retail, technical construction, energy control and knowledge of how to optimise the process. MVRO combines a powerful purchasing strength with a very efficient organisation. MVRO is explicit and surprises its clients with its knowledge advantage.

Managing Director Piet van der Jagt: ‘Our company is built around retail building consultancy, that is what we do and who we are. We are among the 10 percent in this field who operate exclusively in this area. We are not a property developer, an interior finisher, a construction company or a firm of fitters that just does management on the side. Management is all we do at MVRO. We are independent, which means we can always objectively offer our clients the best. We don’t design or build, we hire people who do.’

‘Retail is all about temptation. Everything is very close together. But you still have to make the right choices and get the right feeling across in the implementation. Specifically conveying the client’s idea has led to incredibly enjoyable, intensive confrontations. You have to try to keep hold of the basic ideas in the image, even if unforeseen changes occur in practice. You deal with all the primary matters: the width of aisles, right or left turns; these all involve basic wisdom. But it has to work psychologically too and then it comes down to having a talent for the business. Even though we’re flexible, a lack of clarity or time can cause delays. To reduce this to a minimum, we put everything in writing, including the completion date. Clients can sometimes be driven by their emotions and translate the date the renovation is to start as the day they can open. It’s always a challenge to produce something wonderful in a short time. That requires teamwork and that’s something we’re very good at. And what’s more: a deal’s a deal. Not just when it comes to management, but also as regards the implementation, the materials and the financial aspects.’
