To upgrade 20 shoe shops in line with a contemporary
Shoe retailer vanHaren engaged MVRO to upgrade some 20 stores in line with a new, contemporary concept.
Details
MVRO took on the entire project management for vanHaren and - on behalf of the client - supervised all the parties involved. These included MVRO’s regular partners, but also other parties who had worked for vanHaren and its German parent company, Deichmann, for many years. Depending on the situation, three weeks were spent stripping the stores down to their shell and then completely rebuilding them: from installation work, structural alterations, floors, walls and ceilings right through to lighting, advertising, alarm systems and furniture.
Unusual project
The unusual aspect of the partnership was that it had to disband itself. Workers in Van Haren’s own project management office were to be trained by MVRO to such an extent that they would later be able to manage the entire project on their own. Given the structural and logistical complexity of many of the locations – which often comprised former smaller areas in monumental premises that had been merged over the years – this was a considerable challenge.
"Negotiating with the client’s partners and creating the interior in line with the design provided."
